Emergency Department Clinical Leader

MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Inc. is actively recruiting for a dynamic Emergency Department Clinical Leader to join our team! Patient focused care with commitment to customer service, collaboration and team work is a must. This is a fulltime, 1.0 FTE providing support during the evening and night shift hours.
Job Summary
To assist with the oversight of daily operations in the Emergency Department (ED). This position is responsible for the development and coordination of activities that promote clinically effective and efficient patient care. The ED Clinical Leader plans, organizes, and directs patient care activities as delegated by the Director of Emergency Services. The position collaborates with the rest of the ED Leadership Team in maintaining the operational aspects of the ED to include supervising and evaluating assigned personnel. The ED Clinical Leader maintains a managerial/leadership presence within the ED and helps to ensure that the ED Charge Nurse is able to continue to effectively manage the flow of the ED and serves as a clinical and professional role model for the ED staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience
BS/BA Nursing
A minimum of 3 years Emergency Department Nursing experience
One year of supervisory or management experience required.
License/Certification/Registration
Current Maryland or Compact RN License
Current CPR and ACLS required, and PALS preferred
CEN encouraged within one year of hire
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to comprehend and follow the policies and procedures for MSMHC.
Ability to read, write and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.

Ability to incorporate evidenced-based practices in Emergency Nursing.
Knowledge, skill and ability to effectively utilize the equipment in the office and department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains a managerial/leadership presence in the clinical areas.
Serves as a resource to nursing, medical, and ancillary staff.
Functions in the role of the Charge Nurse as needed.
Controls overtime, agency use, and supply costs.
Counsels staff using effective and constructive communication skills.
Acts as a project lead for departmental objectives or process improvements.
Provides input and facilitates implementation of the Emergency Department?s goals and objectives.
Assists in maintaining appropriate staffing assignments for current and upcoming shifts.
Works with other department, Bed Control, and/or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADN) to coordinate patient care.
Facilitates departmental cleanliness and order.
Investigates patient complaints and follow through on incident reports and corrective measures in collaboration with the Director of Emergency Services.
Assists with the orientation, competencies, and continuing education for staff.
Actively participates in the evaluation of staff and meets with assigned staff to deliver evaluations and set goals with staff.
Assists the Director of Emergency Services in the identification of operating and capital needs and justification.
Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and presides in the absence of the Director of Emergency Services.
Assists with the recruitment and selection of staff.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
